Simmons College's A Cappella Group [30 Nov 2006|12:35am]

incoherentbethy
The Sirens will be hosting their annual winter concert on Dec 2, from 7 to 10pm in the Linda K. Paresky Center at 300 The Fenway, Boston 02115.

The Sirens are an a cappella group from Simmons College in the Back Bay area of Boston. Simmons is an undergraduate all-women’s establishment. Accordingly, the Sirens consist of mostly undergraduate female students.

The Sirens was formed in 1989 by Simmons students. “Unlike our mythological counterparts, our singing won't harm listeners, though we always aim to mesmerize our audiences,” Nichole Iannone, Sirens President said. “We fill our performances with music, laughter, and, above all: FUN!”

Guest singers will include a cappella groups the MIT Logaryhthms and the BU Allegrettos. All groups will be singing repertoire from this semester. The concert will be accompanied by skits and colorful decorations.

Tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets are $5 per adult and $3 per student. For a maximum $1 discounted price, patrons are encouraged to bring a canned good item. All canned goods will be sent to a local shelter. Sirens CDs will be sold at the concert.

For more information e-mail The Sirens at sirens@simmons.edu.

Hey everyone,
Well you might not know it but I am the Vice President of 2009. So far I'm doing a good job, and am hoping to be President next year. I like doing it, and I'm perfect for the position. I'm interested in what my classmates have to say, and in getting know you too. I want to make friends, and make next year a great year for our class. Right now we're planning a couple of events to earn money for next year, especially for the Fall Ball(which is going to be amazing). This semester we're hoping to have an open college Luau (April 7th- Bring your friends) and a Powderpuff football game. One to raise money, and the other just for fun. So yeah, vote for me, President of 2009!

When I called the Simmons bookstore to find out the textbooks I needed for my classes, the genius on the other line gave me the wrong titles. After having bought mostly wrong books, I went to the bookstore to purchase the correct ones and all I received was an apology--THEREFORE, I have books lying around I don't need and want to try to make some money back on. So far I have Introductory Chemistry by Zumdahl for Chem 111. It's brand new and comes with the student suuport package that includes a CDROM. I paid $90 and will sell for $80 or best offer. I also have Gathering Blue by Louis Lowry which is for an MCC class- I'm nt sure which. It's in good condition and I'll be willing to sell it for $3. I have the Chemistry Solutions Guide ($10) that goes along with the textbook( and The Giver($3) en route to my house. They should be arriving around Tuesday and my mom is sending them up if anyone is interested in those as well. Let me know!

Woooh, The Day Has Arrived [02 Sep 2005|10:03pm]

I am packed for school. Please pray that I didn't forget anything. My room feels oddly bare, and looking at it made my mom cry. I filled up the entire back of an SUV with all the stuff I packed, and I hope my roomies don't hate me for bring the stuff I did. It was necessary I swear.

I'm nervous about meeting everyone, and about classes, and just everything in general... but also very excited.

I'll be in Boston tomorrow at the Best Western, let me know if you're there also, and I shall see you all upon move in on Sunday!!

Any of you who are in need of a work-study for school, this is a good opportunity: Simmons Nursing Dept. is currently hiring a work-study office assistant (because I recently quit). Pay is $7.50 for very straightforward office work. The entire department is wonderful with great staff members and dedicated professors. The only reason I quit is because I'm going to be very busy this year, otherwise I'd stay because it's an incredibly stable and flexible job.

They'd like to hire before or as soon as school begins, so please e-mail me (ngo9@simmons) as soon as possible and I'll immediately get back to you with their contact information. You don't need to be a science major (I'm not one at all) - students of all concentrations are encouraged to apply.

Have a good day.

Hey Everyone,

I was just wondering what people thought of the summer reading assignment. I thought it was an interesting perspective but some of her teaching methods were a bit... bizarre. Then again the situation itself was difficult for her. yeah... ok... just wanted to hear what other people thought about it.

john mayer [01 Aug 2005|04:48pm]

flamingopnk
[ mood | hopeful ]

is anyone on here by chance going to see the john mayer trio in october??
i totally screwed myself and bought one general admission ticket thinking my friends could buy them later.
now it's already sold out and it looks like i'm going it alone. i'm pretty independent, but being by myself in a club in boston on a chilly october night scares me a teeny bit.

if anyone is going (or has any cool/harmless friends/aquaintances that are going) and would let me latch on to their group, i'm a fun and non-sketchy person to go to a concert with who is also very good at smuggling in snacks.
